Congratulations and well done to our Year 11 students on their GCSE results today! We were delighted that so many did extremely well, and their success is hugely deserved.
It was fantastic to see so many happy and delighted students collecting their results, and we wish them all the very best for the future. Once again, our results demonstrate the talent of our students in Morriston, the high standard of teaching, along with the outstanding support and guidance our students get from a very dedicated pastoral team.
It is especially important to note, as widely reported in the national press, that Summer 2024 results in Wales mark a return to the 2019 standards set pre-pandemic. For our students this means that grade boundaries have increased significantly in subjects compared to 2023 and the leniency given to candidates to account for the loss of learning during covid has gone.
This makes the achievements of our Year 11 even more commendable, and we very much hope that the overwhelming majority will return to our sixth form for A levels.
As an inclusive comprehensive school, we are always proud of the achievements of all our children. However, we would like to congratulate Evie Dowling for achieving 11 A* grades and one A grade. These outstanding results put Evie amongst the very highest achieving students in Wales.
