BTEC Level 2 Enterprise Skills (Pearson) - Equivalent to 2 GCSE
This vocational qualification introduces learners to the world of business and entrepreneurship. It is designed to develop practical skills that are directly linked to the workplace, helping students understand how businesses are created, developed and promoted.
Learners will build a business idea from the ground up and develop the knowledge and skills needed to plan, create and pitch their own business.
What will learners study?
At this school, students complete the following units:
- Unit 1: The Entrepreneurial Mindset
Learners explore what makes a successful entrepreneur. They develop key skills such as problem-solving, communication and planning, and complete a personal development plan to assess their own strengths and areas for improvement. - Unit 2: Creating a Vision for your Business Plan
Students generate and develop their own business ideas, learning how to decide which ideas are viable and how to plan for future growth. They also explore support networks and guidance available to businesses. - Unit 3: The Business Environment
This unit focuses on how external factors such as economic, social and technological changes affect businesses. Learners also explore different business structures, employment law and leadership styles. - Unit 5: The Marketing Plan
Learners investigate how businesses attract and retain customers. They develop their own marketing and promotion plan, including target audiences, pricing, branding and promotional activities. - Unit 8: Preparing and Pitching a Business Plan
Students bring everything together by producing a full business plan and presenting (pitching) their idea. They develop communication and presentation skills while justifying their decisions and responding to feedback.
How is the course assessed?
- 100% coursework (no final exam)
- Assessment is based on assignments such as presentations, reports, business plans and practical tasks
- Students are graded Pass, Merit or Distinction based on the quality of their work
