Business Key Stage 4

Introduction

The programme is built around creating a business plan, developing your vision, researching the market, financial modelling and pitching to investors. You will also learn more about yourself and how to develop an entrepreneurial mind-set.

Learning activities include team activities, discussions, debates, and case studies together with the setting up of an enterprise/business which will be the focus of your learning. A strong emphasis is placed on working and learning with others and you are regularly set tasks to complete in partnership with other students. You also need to be able to work independently and take responsibility for your own learning.

The course

Throughout Year 10 and 11 you will study 5 units, the three core units:

  • The Entrepreneurial Minds
  • Creating a Vision for your Business Plan
  • Preparing and Pitching a Business Plan

And a further two optional Units

  • The Business Environment
  • The Marketing Plan

This is a Level 2 course and is the equivalent of two GCSE’

Assessment

All five units are internally assessed by completing a number of assignments. These will be completed on computer and generated through a range of diverse activities, including project work, case studies and presentations.

Progression

Upon successful completion of the course, you can progress to a Level 3 Business qualification. In addition, you can apply for work experience where you can apply your new business skills.
