Dear Parents and Carers,
As the summer holidays approach, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support this academic year. Your partnership with us plays a vital role in maintaining high standards and creating a positive culture for all learners at Morriston Comprehensive School.
We are incredibly proud of how the vast majority of our pupils wear their uniform with pride each day. Their appearance reflects the high expectations we have of our learners and supports our shared commitment to excellence.
As families begin preparing for the new school year in September, I want to ensure everyone is fully informed about our uniform expectations. This will help avoid any confusion and ensure that all pupils return to school ready to learn and correctly dressed.
Please note the following key reminders for September:
– Tailored black shorts are permitted as part of school uniform all year round. However, sports shorts, tight-fitting shorts are not allowed.
– Hoodies, leggings, tracksuit bottoms or jeans are not part of the school uniform and should not be worn.
– Footwear must be plain black, including the sole, with no visible logos, stripes or branding.
– Skirts should be of an appropriate length.
– On health and safety grounds, the only jewellery permitted is one pair of stud earrings and a watch. Facial piercings will not be permitted
If you are ever unsure whether an item is suitable, please don’t hesitate to check with us before making a purchase. This helps to avoid disappointment or unnecessary costs.
A copy of our full uniform expectations is included at the end of this letter, and is available on our school website. Families who are eligible may also apply for the School Uniform Grant – more information is available at:
https://www.swansea.gov.uk/schooluniformgrant
We understand that occasional uniform issues may arise. In these instances, please provide your child with a written note on the day and contact the school for support if needed. Our wellbeing teams are always here to help, and we will be happy to work with any family experiencing difficulties with uniform. If you need support, please don’t hesitate to get in touch via: mcssupport@morriston.swansea.sch.uk.
Thank you again for your continued support. We look forward to welcoming all pupils back in September, smart and ready for the year ahead.
Kind regards,
D. Meredith
