Dear Parent / Carer

As we reach the end of term I would once again like to thank you for your on-going support for our school. We have had a number of progress evenings and option events all of which were very well attended. The number of parents and carers signed up for ClassCharts is now over 90%; this is now our main means of communication and is how we share important information and allow you to get regular updates on your child’s progress in school.

Last week we welcomed many of you to our school performance of Matilda that played to packed audiences for four consecutive evenings, along with matinee shows in the day for our primary and special schools. The show demonstrated the huge amount of talent in Morriston and it was fantastic to see so many children involved from across all year groups. A big thank you for Mrs Gough and Ms Abraham-Jones for producing and all the other staff who helped make Matilda such a success.

Next term we will be renewing our push on uniform, punctuality and attendance. We would like to again emphasise the importance of adherence to the school uniform policy. Further details can be found here https://morristoncomp.co.uk/school-information/uniform/.

Introduction of smart, black tailored shorts

After consultation with staff, pupils, parents and carers, and in anticipation of warmer weather to come, it has been agreed that pupils will be given the option to wear smart, black, tailored shorts as an alternative to black trousers or skirts. Examples of acceptable tailored shorts are shown in the images here. Pupils will be allowed to wear these shorts after Easter for the Summer term onwards.

Several other schools in Swansea now allow pupils to wear smart, tailored shorts. They can be purchased through the uniform supplier Bergoni, or most other school uniform stockists including supermarkets.

Finally, can I wish you and your family a happy Easter, and remind you that we have an Inset day on the first Monday back meaning all pupils will return on Tuesday 9th April.

Regards

Mr M Franklin

Headteacher
